Desipina Highlights from Desipina & Co. on Vimeo.
Dear Desipina members, friends and supporters:
It's that time of the year again - and we hope you consider donating to Desipina again this season. Last year, we workshopped Prince of Delhi Palace by Ravi Kapoor - a clever and witty adaptation of Hamlet where the prince's kingdom is his Indian restaurant...and where else did we do it? In an actual indian restaurant. We followed up with our SIXTH production of Seven.11 Convenience Theatre series, with brand new plays and actors...and in between all that, our Co'Lab did a special two day reading series, along with finishing up production on a short film, and launching the film initiative for Desipina! But we couldn't have done any of that without your support. This year, we're aiming to raise $10,000 in individual donations in order to create bigger and better things. Compared to many other producing organizations like ours, that is a drop in the bucket in terms of fundraising goals. But for us, it's a huge substantial impact on our season. If everyone on our list just gives $20 we are close to reaching our goals! So please make a difference in the arts, and donate today. PLUS, any superstar who donates over $1000 will automatically get to choose ONE play/musical that will be brought back for this year’s FINAL Seven.11...

Still unconvinced?
I asked David Letterman to give me some pointers and here's what we came up with:
Top ten reasons to donate to Desipina
10 Because unlike bar tabs, there's no minimum (and plus we're s/asian! We can stretch a little bit a loooong ways).
9 Because only scroogewallas hoard all their dollas.
8 Because running our Seven.11 24/7 is anything but convenient. (And the store's door is closing! Help make Seven.11's last year the best year!).
7 Because the only thing sexier than Shah Rukh is a Desipina after-party.
6 Because it's tax deductible - woo hoo.
5 Because your donation is an actual stimulus cheque.
4 Because we give you more bhang(ra) for your buck.
3 Because we need you in order to survive.
2 Because if we don't show the world the many different things South Asians and Asian Ams have to say, then they'll think we just have nothing to say at all.
1 Because maataajee would want you to, beta.
